🚦 First steps

This quick-start guide will walk you through building your first interactive table visual, adding comments, experimenting with a pivot, and setting up a lite planning table

If you’re part of the TRUECHART+ Beta program, please note that the product is updated weekly and might impact the screens provided as examples here. We’ll endeavor to update them where applicable.

Qlik Enterprise and Qlik Cloud

 

📋 Step 1: Build Your First Table Visual

Drag and drop your TRUECHART+ visual onto your Qlik sheet and select “Get Started”

You’ll be directed through a high level overview of our new UI

1. Select Base Data

  • Choose some dimensions (e.g., Product, Region)

  • Choose some measures (e.g., Sales, Profit)

  • The visual will be created as you add your data

Step 2: Add Comments

TRUECHART+ allows commenting directly in your visual table. These are achieved with Input Groups

Create your first Input Group:

  1. Enter the Settings option

  2. Click on “Input Groups”

  3. Add a new Input Group

    1. Add as many Keys as you have dimensions in your visual

  4. Save your Input Group

  5. Navigate to measures and add the Input Group you have created to your visual , mapping the keys to your dimensions

  6. Click Save

Step 3: View and comment on your visual

To comment on a visual,users need to be in Analysis mode

How to Comment:

  1. In Analysis mode - right click on the visual

  2. Select “Comment Mode : Enable”

  3. The comment fields will enable for you to capture a comment

  4. Enter your comment and it will be saved to the TRUECHART+ Database

Comments can also be saved to a Database of your choice - this is referred to as Multi-Endpoint.


🔄 Step 4: Enable Pivoting

TRUECHART+ supports flexible pivot table views for more dynamic analysis.

How to Use Pivot Mode:

  1. In Analysis mode - right click on the visual

  2. Select “Pivot Mode : Enable”

  3. Drag and drop dimensions between:

    • Rows

    • Columns

  4. You can also mount the Pivot controls to the top right of the cell

This lets you reorient your table layout for deeper insight with minimal clicks.


📈 Step 5: Try Lite Planning

TRUECHART+ includes Lite Planning features to simulate inputs and project scenarios directly in-table.

Planning Setup:

  1. In Pivot mode - set your columns and rows depending on your required situation (eg. Region in rows vs Months in Columns for projections across the year )

  2. Select the “Planning” option

  3. Columns and Rows will be locked into place

  4. Create a new Scenario

  5. Capture your projected values .

    1. All measure values can be captured

A value is either replaced by your captured value or, based on the operator , performs an algorithmic calculation .

  1. The controls allow users to

    1. Cancel/Save changes

    2. Conclude : end the scenario, no further changes allowed

    3. Lock : does not conclude the scenario, but does prevent other users from editing values

    4. Add/Remove Data points : Allows users to add new data points within existing or completely new dimensions entries. Eg. a new Region will be added to the company in March - requiring projections from then onwards

  2. Once changes are saved, all other users with access to this visual can view, edit (unless locked) and comment (if your table has comments) .

This is great for quick forecasting or sandbox-style scenario modeling.


Microsoft Power BI

 

📋 Step 1: Build Your First Table visual

Drag and drop your TRUECHART+ visual onto your Power BI sheet and add your Username Dax function:

1. Select Base Data
