Getting Started with TRUECHART4QLIKVIEW

The latest version for TC4View is v2020.11.2, any TC versions beyond this will not be supported by TRUECHART on QlikView

For following these steps, you need to have QlikView Desktop installed and access to the document directory of QlikView Service.

Preparing your environment

When you follow this tutorial, you should have TRUECHART already installed in your network. Please make sure, that the TRUECHART Service is available and you have access from your system.

Installation of the TRUECHART service

Open the url of the TRUECHART Management Console and download the QlikView extension from the page 'Settings→Download Extension'. The extension package will include the file `HiCoMVCChart.qar`. Please add this file to you QlikView Desktop installation. 

Installing and using extension

Create a QlikView application and prepare the data model

You need QlikView Desktop to create new application files.

gettingstarteddata.xls

You can use the Excel document gettingstarteddata.xls as your first data source. When you open this file with QlikView Desktop 'File → Open...', an import wizard is opening. The data contained in the gettingstarteddata.xls are already formatted in the correct way, so you can directly to the last page of the wizard and click on the finish button.

Add TRUECHART4VIEW and link the extension with the data model

After your application is prepared and the data is loaded, you can add TRUECHART to you application. Please switch to the web view by clicking on 'View → Turn on/off WebView'.

You are now able to add TRUECHART to the sheet by right clicking on the document. 'New Sheet Object → Extension Objects → TRUECHART' and you will be able to drag TRUECHART to the sheet.

Let's link the data model. Right click on the added object, 'Properties' add two dimension and two measures.

When you finished this step, you can save your application and upload it to QlikView Server.

Your first chart in TRUECHART

Now open the created app via QlikView Server:

You are now able to select the chart definition. If you do not see the screen, make sure that your user has designer permission assigned at the TRUECHART Management Console and your TRUECHART license is valid.

Click now on 'Grid' for dividing your layout into 4 parts. 

On the upper left, add a 'Structure' chart by clicking on the symbol. At the cell settings dialog (Right Click on the TRUECHART object → Cell) you can modify the look of the chart.

On the upper right cell, you can add a comment grid.


As soon as you enable the 'Edit Text' Mode in TRUECHART you will be able to add comment at the comment field on the right cell. By using references, you can link your newly created comment with one datapoint.

For the two cells at the bottom you can pick any chart you like to.
