Direct Messaging, Private Replies & Forward

Direct Messaging

KPI- Chat users (from v2022.7.x onwards) have the ability to send private messages directly to each other

Users are simply required to have 1 of the 3 KPI Chat permission sets to be able to make use of this function. 


To utilize this function , users should view an Application in their BI Platform that holds a KPI Chat visual


or be logged into the KPI Chat Web portal :


To initiate a chat with another user - simply select the  icon from your KPI Chat frame and click  

You will then be presented with a list of all users in the KPI Chat service, simply select a user and begin to chat :

Chat content is not visible to anyone else except the two participants. 

Direct Messaging has all the features of a normal chat channel, except for Data Permissions and Filters. 


Private Replies

From v2023.1.x onwards, users have the ability to reply to messages of other user in a Direct message . 

This option is available to all users and is accessed by hovering over the message the user wishes to respond to :

KPI Chat will then create a new Direct Message with the detail of the message and it's channel + Filters (if applicable) attached:

Simply type your message and send :

The user is then engaged in a Direct Message chat .


Note

Note, this option is also available in Table 2 KPI Chat bubbles, however the message window will revert back to it's default channel view after the message has been sent


Forwarding Messages

From v2023.1.x onwards, users can forward multiple messages received in a channel to other users . 

Data Permissions apply

Note that Data Permissions are checked when forwarding messages to prevent users from forwarding a message to a user that is not allowed to see the channel and filters of the originating message

To forward a message, hover over the message and select Forward:

Users then need to select all the messages they want to forward by ticking the box: 

Once done, they can select a user to send the messages to 

Then select Forward:

Similar to Private replies, a Direct message is opened with the detail of the Forwarded messages and their channel + Filter (if applicable) details:
