Compares

Compares are an element to visualize the difference between two values in a chart.

General

Compare values can be from different measures but need to be in the same time or structure chart. Compares are also possible to be defined in multiples and tables.

Adding a New Compare

  1. Open the menu and click on Compare, Add

  2. Then select the starting bar and then to the target bar

  3. Your first compare is now there



Editing a Compare

To open the edit dialog, open the right-click menu and select Compare, Edit.

Indication Dialog

In the compare settings dialog you can change the display condition to dynamically hide or show the compare. You can change the name of the compare by clicking on the current name. It is also possible to change the extension and the chart that the compare belongs to.

Advanced Settings of a Compare

Clicking the pencil icon on the left side opens the advanced settings for compares. The advanced settings allow custom styling of the compares. The dialog consists of four tabs:

The element where the compare starts

  • Type: Determine the start point of the compare, either a label or a position in the visualization

  • Position/label: the position or element where the compare starts

  • Dimension: Decide if the compare starts at the axis or value

  • Measure: Measure of the start point

  • Start: Determine if you want to use the start or end of the representation as the start point

To

The element where the compare ends.

  • Type: Determine the end of the compare, either a label or a position in the visualization

  • Position/label: the position or element where the compare end

  • Dimension: Decide if the compare ends at the axis or value

  • Measure: Measure of the end

  • Start: Determine if you want to use the start or end of the representation as the end

Description

Description settings for the compare. You activate the element by clicking on an inactive icon or deactivate it by clicking on an active icon.

  • Absolute: position of the absolute text

  • Percent: position of the percent text

  • Label-Position: the position of the description

  • Label: Text of the description

Rest

General styling options that are used for the whole compare element.

  • color: The color of the compare

  • Ellipse: Show the value in an ellipse

  • Style: The style of the compare either notation manual, arrow or line

  • Offset-Point: The starting point of the compare

  • Offset in mm/10pt: Change the position of the compare relative to the start point

  • Displace priority: Priority when two compares collide
